Stroke development integrates the basic stroke skills. Students learn rotary breathing and improve technique and distance in the front crawl and back stroke. We continue breast stroke technique and introduce the dolphin kick. Students develop deep water skill including retrieving objects body position changes. Beginning diving is introduced (if deep water is available). Safety skills for this class are treading water and body position changes in deep water.
Beginning breast stroke kick and dolphin kick
Front crawl 3-5 yards with rotary breathing.
Back crawl or modified back stroke 15-30 feet.
Jump into deep water, rise to the surface, tread water, and swim to the side without assistance.
